One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday or Sunday morning whether I’m at home or traveling is to go out for brunch. I love it because it’s a way for me to relax on my day off. I usually go a bit crazy and order about 3-4 courses and you can usually see my posts on my instagram feed.
On this particular day I had a meal at Girl and the Goose. Located between well known Crowe’s Pub and Mary Mac’s in the heart of Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. This hidden gem serves a mix of Irish and French dishes in a warm and relaxed setting.
I arrived at around midday and the restaurant was empty, which was great as I was able to chat to the staff about their food recommendations and try to get some insider tips from them.
Starter: Wild Mushroom Risotto with Pine Nuts, Parmesan and Truffle Oil.
Enjoy a 2 course meal special for €20 everyday between 12-4pm. (Note: Not sure when this ends, check their website for updates: girlandthegooserestaurant.ie
First Main: Hidden under the egg were two fish cakes which were nicely crispy on the outside served with a slice of toast with Jam and spinach. It was an enjoyable dish, washed down well by my gin and tonic.
Second Main: I ordered one of their homemade burgers which had cheese, grilled onions and roasted yellow and red peppers. It was a bit dry but edible. I had half of the burger and I was full.
All in all, I was impressed with the most by the friendly staff, especially the lady who works there. The atmosphere is perfect for brunch or dinner with a group of friends, it’s quiet enough to speak and they have a large variety of meals and desserts to indulge in.
